Movie Club – March: The Father (online)

Join GenPride’s Movie Club for The Father, a tour-de-force depiction of a father and daughter struggling with the elder’s advancing dementia. Starring Oscar-winning actors Anthony Hopkins and Olivia Colman, this movie’s brilliant, tight-wound script puts us inside the father’s confused mind, like a King Lear trapped inside The Twilight Zone. Hopkins is both charismatic and ferocious in this role, and Colman gives one of her best-ever performances. “Breathtaking to watch” says The Guardian.

Since this film can bring up strong emotions around its subject matter, an expert from the local Alzheimer’s Association will join our after-movie discussion to answer questions and offer resources to help our neighbors and loved ones dealing with dementia, at whatever stage.
