2023 Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program

2023 Enrollment Period Opens April 10

The application period for the 2023 Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program is slated to open on Monday, April 10.

In 2023, the Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program will provide an e-Benefit card valued at $80 (one-time distribution) to be used for the purchase of fresh fruits and vegetables at participating farmers markets.

GenPride, Seattle and King County’s resource for LGBTQIA+ Aging, announces the selection of Judy Kinney (she/they) as Executive Director!

“With the anticipated opening of Pride Place and the GenPride Community Center this fall, we are thrilled to start this monumental year with more exciting news,” said Richard Patterson, President, GenPride Board of Directors. “In a selection process that began in late fall 2022, Judy emerged from a pool of national and local candidates as the best person to lead GenPride. LGBTQ seniors fear discrimination when searching for housing – PBS Newshour

Many LGBTQ+ seniors who live in long-term care communities and senior housing are fearful of being mistreated, refused care, neglected, or abused—with some even re-closeting themselves for safety. In many states, it’s still legal to deny access to housing and public resources, and few long-term care facilities have policies to protect residents based on sexual orientation and gender identity.
