Construction has officially started back up on Pride Place! Walsh Construction has already made a tremendous amount of progress since the end of the construction strike.
It was truly a triumph of teamwork, including support from more than a dozen different organizations—including Community Roots Housing, Environmental Works, Leavitt Cranes, Barnhart Crane & Rigging, Northwest Tower Crane, CEC Equipment, Seattle Blue, Yes We Can Flagging, Albrecht Birkenbuel, Inc., RDF BUILDERS CO, Swenson Say Faget, Merit Electric, Seattle DOT, King County Metro, & NW Skyview Imagery!
Continued daily closure of the sidewalk along the west side of Broadway will continue between 7AM – 5PM delay. Typical days this sidewalk will be re-opened by 3:30PM.
Installation of the concrete mat footing for the tower crane will begin
It’s been a successful month of construction at the Pride Place project!
We have completed the demolition of the Atlas building, and we have salvaged pieces of the landmark structures that will be part of the new Pride Place. GenPride is excited to have these pieces of history be a part of the new housing and community center.
The project has now moved on to the installation of the perimeter soldier piles.

Utility work will begin end of November and is scheduled to take 6 weeks to complete
Closures will begin at 7AM and Broadway will be fully re-opened at 4PM, daily Monday – Friday.
During the working hours, Broadway will be closed to standard vehicular traffic between East Pike and East Pine. Buses, Streetcar, and bike traffic will remain open during the standard day closure.
Uniform Police Officers will manage the intersections at Broadway/East Pike and Broadway/East Pine to safely detour traffic and allow local traffic through to businesses.

SDOT and Metro have approved a full closure of Broadway between East Pike and East Pine for the installation of the onsite tower crane.
Mobile crane will be staged in the parking lot on the east side of Broadway to hoist sections of the onsite tower crane into place.
Closure will begin at 4AM and will run as late as 9PM. The goal is to have the crane installed and Broadway re-opened early to mid-afternoon, but the closure will run later if necessary.
Streetcar will not be operating that day to accommodate this closure, and Metro bus service will run until 7AM, …
