SDOT and Metro have approved a full closure of Broadway between East Pike and East Pine for the installation of the onsite tower crane.
Mobile crane will be staged in the parking lot on the east side of Broadway to hoist sections of the onsite tower crane into place.
Closure will begin at 4AM and will run as late as 9PM. The goal is to have the crane installed and Broadway re-opened early to mid-afternoon, but the closure will run later if necessary.
Streetcar will not be operating that day to accommodate this closure, and Metro bus service will run until 7AM, after which the routes will detour around this stretch of road.
Broadway will be fully closed to through traffic, including bike lanes, northbound and southbound vehicular/bus/streetcar traffic, and pedestrian traffic at the east and west sidewalks. Access will be maintained to all local businesses during this time for pedestrian foot traffic. Access to the businesses on the east side of Broadway will be from East Pike, and access to businesses on the west side of Broadway will be from East Pine.
Uniform Police Officers will manage the intersections at Broadway/East Pike and Broadway/East Pine to safely detour traffic and allow local traffic through to businesses.
