Dementia Action Collaborative (DAC) Listening Sessions –

Dear Community Partners,

As you may know, the Dementia Action Collaborative (DAC) is hosting a series of virtual listening sessions to better understand the unique challenges faced by those living with memory loss or dementia and their families. As an organization dedicated to promoting health equity for those aging with pride, GenPride recognizes the importance of including and prioritizing the voices of communities of color in these conversations. Research shows that African-Americans, Black Americans, and other Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) are disproportionately impacted by dementia and often face barriers to accessing care and support. It is essential that we work together to ensure that the needs of these communities are heard and addressed by policymakers and healthcare providers.
We are reaching out to you as a valued community partner to help spread the word about these listening sessions to your members and followers. By sharing information about these events, we can help ensure that the voices of those impacted by dementia from diverse backgrounds are included in this critical conversation. Please consider sharing information about the DAC listening sessions with your members via email, social media, or other communication channels.

Are you, or a family member, living with memory loss or dementia? Do you work with people living with dementia? If so, your voices matter! Washington State’s Dementia Action Collaborative (DAC) is hosting several virtual listening sessions. The DAC wants to hear about the special challenges that people living with dementia and their families face today and ideas for addressing those challenges in the future.

About DAC: The DAC is updating our Washington State Plan to Address Alzheimer’s Disease and Other Dementias, originally developed in 2016. Public input at these sessions will help to shape strategic plans and policies. For more information, visit dshs.wa.gov/dac.
