All Pilgrims Christian Church
3.5

500 Broadway East, Seattle, WA, USA, Washington state 98102
206.322.0487

All Pilgrims Christian Church is a progressive faith community that offers opportunities for worship, spiritual growth, ministry, and community. We take pride in our diversity, and welcome the full participation of all as equal members in our community.

All Pilgrims began in 2003 with the merger of two Broadway churches: Seattle First Christian Church (1883) and Pilgrim Congregational United Church of Christ (1899). We are affiliated with both the Disciples of Christ and the United Church of Christ.

At All Pilgrims Christian Church we are a faith-community that truly values and celebrates diversity. Through God’s love and with Christ’s example we set aside all human barriers and divisions and invest ourselves in the healing of prejudice, exclusion and hatred.

We are open to, and affirming of, the full participation of all as equal members in this one body: people of all colors, ages, economic circumstances, sexual orientations, gender or transgender identities, physical and mental abilities, education levels and conditions of health.

We consider no commandment to be greater than this:
“We shall love God with all our heart, soul, mind and strength
and love our neighbors as we love ourselves.”

Our worship takes place every Sunday at 10:30 am. This service features our choir and childcare is provided. Our services are a mix of both modern and traditional Christian rituals. We gather as a community for bible readings, songs and holy communion.

Liberation United Church of Christ
0.0

832 32nd Avenue, Seattle, WA, USA, Washington state 98122

Liberation would like to thank everyone who joined us for our tenth anniversary service. We celebrated a decade of prophetic, radically inclusive ministry and looked forward to another ten years of relevant spirituality and socially just works.

At Liberation United Church of Christ, we embrace the teaching that each person is "fearfully and wonderfully made" (Psalm 139). Variations in sexual orientation, gender/gender identity, race, and ability are to be honored and celebrated as manifestations of God's creativity and will.

We are free to be intentionally radically inclusive, welcoming all persons; irrespective of gender, gender expression, sexual orientation, race, socioeconomic status, or any other marginalized identity. Every person in the world is important to God. We are members of one body in Christ and none of us is a foreigner of an outsider. We belong to the same human family and Jesus is the one who unites us.

We seek to live out the call to liberation we see scripture. Whoever you are, and whatever marginalization you may have experienced in other faith communities, you can expect welcome, affirmation, and inclusion here.

In the early 1990s, Bishop Lowell Knutson became concerned about the lack of Lutheran church support for gay and lesbian Christians and their families. Ron Shonke, an openly gay Lutheran pastor, was called to begin ministry with persons dealing with HIV/AIDS and gay and lesbian issues.
Since its creation Open Door Ministries has provided counseling, referral, and support to more than 21,000 people dealing with their faith in combination with HIV/AIDS and gay, lesbian, bi-sexual, and transgender issues.

Our Mission:

  • To extend Christ’s affirming, inclusive love to persons who have often felt excluded and condemned by church and society because of their sexual orientation or gender identity.
  • To encourage and support the Church and its members as they address issues of human sexuality and biblical interpretation.
  • To bring the compassion of Christ and his Church to persons affected by HIV/AIDS and other health-related issues.

Seattle First Baptist Church

1111 Harvard Avenue, Seattle, WA, USA 98122

Lesbians, gay men, bisexuals and transgendered individuals are fully welcome at Seattle First Baptist, and have been welcome here for decades. A support group for gay men was first formed by one of our pastors in the 1960s. A lesbian couple was married here in the 1980s (they are still together, by the way). When Washington State allowed same-sex couples to marry in 2012, we hosted a ceremony for 25 couples from the community. Today all individuals are welcome to fully participate here — our leadership and active membership includes individuals who serve fully and faithfully regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity.

Here you are encouraged to be fully who you are.
Here you are accepted, valued, and encouraged to grow into the complete individual that God wants you to be.
Here you can forget about the barriers that still divide so many parts of our society.
Here you are invited, just as you are, to join us, just as we are, in a mutual journey of love, support and respect.

Seattle First Baptist is a church community that seeks to follow the way of Jesus Christ, to be a people of God and to love and care for our neighbors. We invite you to be part of us for one website visit, one worship service, or for a lifetime. Seattle First Baptist is affiliated with the American Baptist Churches USA and values traditional historic Baptist principles such as Soul Freedom — the right of each person to interpret the Bible and other teachings for her or himself, the Separation of Church and State and the Autonomy of the congregation. As a church we value our communal times of worship, music and education together, and we encourage individuals to discover and walk their spiritual path in solitude and in community, in small groups and large, and in individual spiritual direction.
