GenPride stands against anti-Asian hate and violence, and in solidarity with the AAPI community

We are outraged and heartbroken by the recent murders in Atlanta, as well as the many physical acts of violence around the nation (including in the Puget Sound Region), that are manifestations of the ever-present racism that Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) communities have endured for 160 years. The past year has only further highlighted the historic structures that allow this to continue in this country and the incredibly harmful impact of politically powerful demagogues who do not stand on the side of justice and honor of all people across our myriad of backgrounds, sexual orientations, and gender identities.

We at GenPride stand in strong solidarity with the AAPI community. As an organization whose mission is to serve the needs of LGBTQIA+ seniors, we are dedicated to addressing the heavy social, intersectional disparities based on race, socioeconomics, sexual orientation, and gender identity.

We are deeply committed to the work ahead as we fight to break down racist structures and work to build a new future where all can thrive with safety, pride, and dignity. We continue to actively examine, implement, and refine our approach to building this future together.
